The Gospel Music Museum is the music museum of the American culture. In support of educational awareness, the Gospel Music Museum collects, preserves, exhibits, and interprets works of art for the benefit of the community, the citizens of greater Atlanta and our nation. By means of collection and loaned works, the Museum presents exhibitions of original and visual merit, in the belief that contact with original works of art in a museum setting is an essential component of an education and a key factor in understanding the evolution of gospel music. To further enrich the understanding of the gospel music history, the Museum produces catalogues and other publications, and sponsors programs such as lectures, symposiums, readings and tours to promote the works on view and connect them to a wider historical and cultural discourse. While embracing and serving the Atlanta area, the Museum also reaches beyond this audience, serving out-of-state visitors and school students. The museum will preserve the legacy of pioneers and feature the artists of today and tomorrow. This will be the place relive the history of Gospel Music: honor the past, embrace the present and explore the potential.
